So I was doing my daily Myspace duty and I came across this profile “Been Dead Along Time”. “Sounds interesting” I thought. So I clicked on it and was floored by some of the awesome images and artwork featured there. So after sending a friend request, I thought I’d try to get to know this up and coming filmmaker, artist and photographer known only as “King”…
“I am a photographer, independent filmmaker and all around artist with seven years of experience doing photography and artwork for metal and punk bands around North Carolina. A devoted horror fan and disciple of the macabre, I made my first short film in 2008 for the American Zombie Film Fest. I currently have three short film projects and two music videos in the works, as well as book of macabre and morbid photos. Also in the works, a comic book built of photography and different mediums which will include works from other artists as well as my own. The goal with my art, regardless of the medium I use, is to shock and attract attention from the audience. Influenced from the filmmakers of the late 60′s through 80′s, I want to make films and art that is gritty and shocking like “Cannibal Holocaust”, “Last House On The Left”, “Friday The 13th”, and the Romero films, but also with the scummy and dirty atmosphere of early exploitation films such as “Kill Baby Kill”, “Hells Angels On Wheels”, and “Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS”.
My partner and I have always been horror fans, always asking for more gore and more violence. With our art and films we plan on leaving our audience not asking for more, but rather asking themselves, ”What just happened?” or “Is that legal ?”. Either way, the audience will be assaulted with over the top gore and horror that will scar their memory and sanity.”
