Rebekah-Ghoul about town

Horror films have always played a major role in my life.
It’s my one true love that will never cease to entertain and
comfort me when needed. The moment I fell in love with
the genre I was standing in the horror section at an old
video store with rare and exciting cover art. At the tender
age of eight I decided I had to see every film on that wall
and then some. At the age of 13 I learned how to use a computer
and I began my own website where I mainly talked about
horror news and reviewed all the films that nobody ever
talks about. Eventually, I began reviewing horror novels for
Joe Bob Brigg’s website. After that I wrote for other websites
like horrornews.net I was given my own column that was titled
“Horror Gossip” and I was titled Chief Reporter and Chief Interviewer.
In 2009, Dai Green and I started THE GASH: WOMEN OF HORROR. It’s a
podcast that has been quoted as, “The View with PMS.” We are still
going today. I frequently partake in modeling, dance, and acting.
Writing is my true calling. I am the biggest geek on the planet.
Sarcasm and honesty is a must. I’m quite fond of video nasties and
Night of the Demons is my favorite horror film of all time.

My name is Rebekah

Greetings and salutations fellow horror fans. This is my new horror column. I hope you think it’s a good read. Each week I will try my hardest to bring you everything new and au courant in the majestic realm of horror with my amusing and entertaining rants on the subject. If you feel you have a project worthy enough for me to share with the world please feel free to email me here: ssextermination@yahoo.com My views and opinions on such subject matters do not reflect the views and opinions of the rest of the staff for ScreamTV. In other words, if you have a fucking problem then you need to let this bitch right here know about it. Now, with that out of the way I’d like to get on with the rest of my column. I tend to break everything up into sections. Most anticipated, Least anticipated, television and dvd news, horror comics, sequels and remakes, and everything over seas. Before I start off with what I anticipate the most I do want to make mention that the
Amityville House has been sold. It stayed on the market for 70 days and sold for 1.15 million dollars. I would also like to remind all of you that this house isn’t really haunted. Don’t let Hollywood fool you.

Most Anticipated:

I’m not exactly sure if I will like The Last Exorcism but I can tell you that Eli Roth is a fine film-maker and a fellow Jew. The posters for the film really caught my eye because I’ve never seen anything so creepy. The film hits theaters August 27th. Hope you enjoy the new disturbing poster. I am a little tired of films on exorcisms now but who knows…..could be worthwhile. How about a little synopsis?

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy. Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

Below you can see the new posters for MONSTERS the Cloverfield of 2010. People say what they want about Cloverfield. They tend to feel ‘sick’ with that kind of film-making. Well I think you should all stop being pussies and crying like little bitches about it. Cloverfield isn’t the best film I’ve seen but it has a lot of interesting qualities. There I said it. I like Cloverfield. Deal with it. The film MONSTERS looks like it has some interesting qualities as well so I cannot wait to check it out. I’ve never been a big fan of gigantic monsters attacking a city. I hate Godzilla and I thought King Kong was stupid. That’s right….I typed that. The original King Kong is a gem though. I hope MONSTERS is good enough for my standards. The story follows a US journalist who agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through an infected, quarantined zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border. Six years previously, the earth was invaded by aliens and new life
forms began to appear in Mexico. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain “the creatures”…

I’ve been waiting for this day to come. More news on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! Natalie Portman talked to MTV and gave them an update on the upcoming film. She tells them that filming is expected to start next year. David O Russell will direct the film. So far that’s all we know about the cast and crew. What we have here is a woman searching for love and independence……oh and there’s the whole zombie problem as well. Portman will play feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy. It’s about time this project takes off. I cannot wait to find out more information and let you know the details asap! I love the PORT!

The next two films I am DYING to see are Red State and Frankenweenie.
Kevin Smith finally reveals the plot to his horror film RED STATE and Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie finally has a release date. Too many people complain about Smith’s recent work. Saying things like, “OMGZZZZZZZZZ HE USES DICK AND FART JOKES ALL THE TIME. HE’S SO IMMATURE AND MAKES THE SAME FILM OVER AND OVER AGAIN!” Oh will you please just shut it. I happen to love ALL the dick and fart jokes and I would love to see his horror film. I hope it has dick and fart jokes as well. The film will center around a group of kids that meet a crazed preacher. Apparently, it’s based on Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church who introduces them to an extreme fundamentalism. Shooting was suppose to start in July but obviously hasn’t. Michael Parks has been cast. Color me fucking ecstatic. I adore Michael Parks. I desperately want to meet this man. You may remember him as Earl McGraw in
Tarantino’s Kill Bill, Death Proof, and Planet Terror. He’s that lovely detective that calls Uma Thurman a tall drinking cocksucker. He also plays Esteban in Kill Bill 2. Lord have mercy was that awesome or what? Another director that people have been complaining about is Tim Burton. He still has millions of devoted fans but some of his fans are getting tired of him recycling Johnny Depp. His next project is FRANKENWEENIE. Well guess what, he isn’t directing the film only producing. Don Hahn is taking over directing responsibilities according to Slash Film and will be released in theaters March 9th, 2012. This bit of information comes from AICN “the puppets are ready, the script is done and now that Tim Burton is clear of ALICE IN WONDERLAND… he’s set to helm FRANKENWEENIE in 3D.” Cause we need another 3D movie. Heaven’s to Betsy.

Least Anticipated:
Is it me or is it a better outcome when someone else directs Stephen Kings adaptations? I enjoyed IT and parts of The Stand but his version of Carrie and The Shining…..no sir. I am not a fan. Gerard Lough will be directing Boogeyman but I have to say from watching this trailer I am not impressed. It doesn’t come off as scary and the bits of the boogeyman I see look….disappointing as ever. It really flattens my soda pop. Maybe I am wrong. I will give it a chance. The film premiered in Ireland on August 6th at the Dublin Film Festival.

The urban community may be interested in Cherry Tree Lane but I cannot say that I am too ecstatic. It’s not because it seems to be for urban fans but it’s due to lack of originality. How many home invasion thrillers do there have to be? I mean, come on guys. You want to watch a good home invasion film then see Funny Games.
It all ends the same way. Who knows, maybe Cherry Tree Lane will be different. Thanks to Empire you can see a trailer of the film below. The film is directed by Paul Andrew Williams who directed The Cottage and London To Brighton. Cherry Tree Lane will be shown at this years Film 4 FrightFest on Saturday 28th August. Isn’t Cherry Tree Lane Mary Poppins address? Spoons full of sugar wont be enough to help this couple.

Some how I’ve lost interest in this next film. CHATROOM!
Ooooh sounds scary. Hideo Nakata’s new cyber thriller has a pretty cheesy one sheet. But that’s just my opinion. Nakata is responsible for films like; Dark Water, Ringu, Ringu II, and The American Ring II. Starring Imogen Poots, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Beard, Hannah Murray, Megan Dodds, Michelle Fairley, Daniel Kaluuya, Nicholas Gleaves, Jacob Anderson, Tuppance Middleton, Ophelia Lovibond and Richard Madden. Here’s the one sheet and a long synopsis thanks to AITH:

When jaded teens Jim, Eva, Emily and Mo meet William online, and they’re seduced by his charisma. But William isn’t what he seems. He’s calculating and manipulative and doesn’t have time for people in the real world. Jim is vulnerable and he has no idea how dangerous his new friendship with William will be. When Jim confesses he’s on anti-depressants, William knows he’s found a victim. He vows to help Jim off his drugs, and the rest of the group fall in line. What begins as friendly advice to help Jim becomes twisted and Eva and Mo realize the deadly game William’s playing, but the wheels are in motion. Jim is set on a path of self- destruction, and is going to do the unthinkable. As Eva, Emily and Mo try to save Jim, William begins a terrifying game of cat and mouse chasing them across the internet, shutting down their systems, and cutting them off from his victim. Fantasy meets reality when William and Jim are face to face in rush hour on the
underground. Without the faceless security of the online world, everything becomes real. It’s now a race against time to save Jim, but the clock is ticking… and we fear someone must die.

Over Seas:
Asian film-makers are deranged mother effers aren’t they? I likes. I likes very much. I likes to discuss their wonderful horror films. I likes to tell you about Snow White from Thailand. Thanks to 24FramesPerSecond for sharing. The Snow White (???????? “??????????”) is another Thai ghost story. I know what you’re thinking, “It’s always a ghost story.” You have to admit to yourself they they can tell a pretty darn good ghost story am I right? Well this Snow White isn’t about Disney’s Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Below you can watch the trailer and see for yourself. Don’t let the title fool you. The film looks pretty effed up. It’s filled with gratuitous nudity and numerous scenes with a bloody fetus. Then there’s a dead pregnant lady walking around and eventually opening up her stomach showing her insides. SOLD!

Synopsis: “Two students stealthy dissect the dead body of a pregnant woman just to get the dead infant in her belly, to perform a dark magic charm. But the magic doesn’t work, and soon they realize a terrible price is to be paid for their horrific act, as they’re hunted by the vengeful ghost of the dead woman. While the ghost is threatening their lives, a kind hearted nurse tries to stop the ghost to save them”

Now from South Korea we have a Bloody Revenge Thriller Bedevilled. South Korean writer/director Jang Cheol-so is set to release a tense and disturbing revenge thriller. Bedevilled will be making it’s UK premiere at this years Film4 FrightFest on August 30th. Below you can check out the promo trailer for Bedevilled:

Synopsis: “Hae-won is a beautiful single woman in her thirties who works at a bank in the Seoul city. She leads a busy life until she becomes a witness to an attempted murder case, and at the same time, things get complicated at work. When things get out of hand she is forced to take a vacation so she heads for ‘Moodo’, a small undeveloped island, where she had once visited to see her grandparents. And where she had befriended a girl named Bok-nam who stills writes to Hae-won asking her to visit despite the fact that Hae-won never bothered to reply. Upon arriving at the island, Hae-won is shocked to see everyone treating Bok-nam like a slave. As practically the only young woman on the island, she is a plaything for all the men and a free laborer for the women. Sick of all the inhumane treatment, Bok-nam had tried to escape the island several times in the past but had failed each time. She begs Hae-won to help her escape the place, but Hae-won remains
indifferent not wanting to be involved in complicated situations. When Bok-nam realizes that her own daughter will follow her footsteps, she tries to escape the island with her daughter. But her daughter gets killed in the process. And when she loses the only thing that had kept her going because of Hae-won’s negligence, Bok-nam takes a sickle in her hand for revenge.” Bedevilled makes it’s Korean theatrical release September 2nd. An international release date is yet to be announced.

Sequels and Remakes:
Below you can gander at the new poster for The Gate 3D remake.
In case you have been living under a rock Alex Winter is directing the film. In case you are absolutely retarded and don’t know who Alex Winter is…he’s that curly blond kid from Bill and Ted! He was also the vampire Marco in The Lost Boys. Perhaps one of the greatest vampire films ever made. The awesome man also directed FREAKS which doesn’t get enough play. What is wrong with people???? Freaks was awesome. I don’t know how I feel about another remake coming along but I have faith in Alex Winter and so should you. Shock Till You Drop scored an interview with the man and here are some of the details Winter revealed; the film will be ready for fall of 2011 with shooting to begin soon. It’s possible that it’s the first 3D film to be made in Germany. You can wonder over here to read the entire interview. Kudos
to STYD. Ale has me sold so far.

From Deadline comes word that Final Destination 5 which will be hitting theaters August 26, 2011 has cast its first character. Miles Fisher has been cast in the film but not clear on what his role will be. Final Destination 5 like 4 will be released in 3D. The opening scene is going to reportedly use a suspension bridge as the opening death scene. Hopefully we see them change their mind with the title since they have done that a couple times on previous installments. It’s an interesting approach but I am not a fan of the Final Destintion franchise. The first installment may be the only one I enjoyed. I did see the 4th in theaters…..3D of corpse. The death scenes were fun and the effects were good…….as for the plot and everything in between……’meh’ I really couldn’t give a damn. It’s all very typical but I am sure the youngsters will love it. That’s the target any way right?

Usually, I have a lot more to offer in this section. In my next posts I will be sure to keep it pretty filled. Keep checking back.

Could Be Yours:
Good lord it has been 30 years since William Lustig’s classic Maniac first hit screens. Now you will be able to own the 30th anniversary special 2-disc DVD and Blu-Ray edition. Maniac is perhaps one of my favorite horror films that came out of the 80s and has to have the best head explosion scene ever! Thanks to Tom Savini who was also the guy getting his head exploded. Oh happy day I need to own this. In case you haven’t seen this classic you should watch the trailer below. It’s worth every minute of your time.

Tube News:
This week, the Scream Queens on VH1 get a taste of maggots! How amusing for the rest of us. Man, I should have been on this show. Then again…….I would probably cause too much havoc. If I ever have a chance to be on any reality tv show I am immediately taking the role as the bitch in the house.

If you don’t want any True Blood spoilers then you need to stop reading here and go onto the next section of the article.
The third season premiered July 13th, 2010 with over five million viewers and averaging 4.81 viewers coming in each week on HBO. Here’s a quick recap of everything that has been going on: Bill has been taken against his will to serve the King of Mississippi, Russell, who is very powerful and homosexual. His vampire life partner, Talbot, is probably one of my favorite new characters. I fell in love with his accent and there is a scene where he actually knocks over all the chess pieces on the table and says, “I am bored. Take off your clothes.” This had me giggling. Eric, another one of my favorite vampires, we get to see naked again (mostly) BUT it is while he and Talbot were being intimate and my exact reaction was NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This season has loads of men kissing. Lafayette has a love interest named Jesus who takes
care of his crazed mother Ruby Jean. Ruby Jean escapes and tells Lafayette the vampires are coming for him. Sam comes across his family that abandoned him years ago and they have another son that needs rescuing. His mother and younger brother are also shape shifters. The mother and father use the son to make money by forcing him into fights with pitbulls and betting on his fight. If the son doesn’t win this fight….he dies. Charming parents. Poor baby vampire Jessica. She accidentally killed a man and now has to hide the body. Hoyt is still out of her life and Bill eventually trains her how to use her vampire strength and defend herself. Sookie saves Bill from the King Russell and stakes that Lorena bitch. FINALLY! Bill feeds off Sookie and almost kills her. They break up. While she is in a coma she dreams of fairies that tell her that bad man is going to ‘steal her light’ Maybe this is the light that shoots out of her hands. We are finding out more
and more about Miss Stackhouse this season. Pam is being tortured in a tunnel by the Magister. “How did you know I was a Tiffany’s girl?” Favorite line from that episode. Eric wants revenge for Russell killing his family. He kills Talbot. OH NO I LOVE TALBOT! I was hoping they would keep him alive. The Queen Vampire of Louisiana marries the very homosexual Russell so that Russell can acquire the state of Louisiana. They keep Sookie’s cousin Hadley around. I wonder why. This were bitch named Debbie gets her ass kicked by Sookie Stackhouse. Royally kicked and it was hot. Bill and Sookie have more hot sex. I adore seeing Paquin naked whenever possible. Tara is trying not to lose her shit and off her self. A very ugly vampire named Franklin, WHO IS ALSO OUT OF HIS FRACKIN’ MARBLES, holds Tara hostage and wants to make her his vampire bride. She beats his head in and it’s pretty brutal. If you pay close attention he didn’t die like vampires usually die so
there’s a chance he could still be alive. Jason Stackhouse is keeping a big secret and now sleeping with a meth cooker named Crystal who is probably not human and neither is her abusive father and fiance. This has been made pretty obvious. But what are they? Were wolves? Or something else? This season introduces were wolves and portrays them as stupid dogs and nothing more. All the werewolves I’ve seen are complete trash with a thirst for vampire blood. When a vampire is full it means they will more than likely tear apart and feast upon the were wolf that attempts to attack that vampire. I know I am leaving some things out but there’s so much to cover. Below please watch the hilarious Post Mortem that discusses how Vampires are cooler than werewolves:

Comics:

Vampirella’s Back! Comic Monsters describes it as a darker world for Vampirella, and something even more sinister than vampires lurks in the shadows, something that even Dracula himself has cause to fear. Vampirella is all that stands between us . . . . . . .and the end of the world! Below you can see the very erotic preview. Written by Eric Trautmann. Art by Wagner Reis. Covers by J. Scott Campbell, Alex Ross, and Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic. 40 pages and selling for 3.99.

You know I am a sucker for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Especially the comic book. It’s my favorite horror comic OF ALL TIME! Admit it, the fact that I read the comic makes me fucking cool and if you think otherwise…..you only wish you were as cool as me. The only thing is….I am not too excited for this issue. I have never been a Riley fan. I knew they would bring him back into the loop though. Here’s a description from Comic Monsters: In the midst of the battle, Buffy’s former flame, the demon fighting soldier Riley Finn, seemingly in league with Twilight, was revealed as a double agent working for the Slayer army. Now Espenson and artist Karl Moline (Fray, Willow) uncover the secrets of Riley’s recruitment by Buffy, his infiltration of Twilight’s inner circle, and what’s become of him and his superspy wife, Sam. Writer: Jane Espenson Penciller: Karl Moline. Inker: Andy Owens. Colorist: Michelle Madsen. Cover Artist: Karl Moline and Jo Chen. 40 pages

Closing:
I hope you are satisfied and you plan on checking in every week. I’d like to close with my favorite death scene from the Friday the 13th Franchise. What did you do for Friday the 13th this year? Send me an email about it. I’d like to tell you all about the fun I had on Friday the 13th but so many things to discuss and so little time. Look forward to my next article on Sweatshop and news on Sweatshop II. Now for the clip…..

It may not be the bloodiest but it’s the funniest. She actually gets hit six times unlike in this video. Thankyou and goodnight.
